MVE Found in The Northern Territory

by Carl Jackson April 30, 2018

Residents on the outskirts of Darwin have been asked to take precautions after detecting MVE in chickens.

This potentially deadly virus causes inflammation of the brain and can affect the nervous system as well. There is no vaccine for the virus.

The virus is rare and health authorities have been keeing a close eye on the mosquito borne virus for years through the use of chickens.

Its important to ensure you yard and home are kept clean.Avoid standing water and ensure your doors and windows are covered with insect screens to minimise your risks.
