You probably fall into one of 2 groups of people, those that don’t pay much attention to flies and those that hate them. Whichever catergory you fall into, you’d be interested to know that flies carry pathogens on their feet and body that they leave on your food when they land.
Consider for a moment that flies play a crucial role in decomposing waste, without which we’d be doomed. But the reverse of that benefit is that because it is attracted to waste, its feets and body are covered in this waste if it has landed there before making its way to your plate.
The flies that invade our homes carry pathogens on themselves which they leave on your food, together with their faeces and vomit.
Flies that have been on your food for a while have had time to defecate and vomit on it, so keep that in mind the next time you ask yourself the question, should I eat it or toss it?
