Melbourne Residents Warned of Bug Lurking in Christmas Trees

With our insect screens in place and keeping insects out, what if unsuspecting homeowners are inviting another pest into their homes unwittingly?

People who live in Melbourne have been asked to check their trees for a white marshmallow like substance on the trunk and branches. The residue is cause by a contagious insect, capable of killing pine tress which jumped across container lines.

The creepy crawly is originally from Greece and Turkey and has already killed hundreds of pine trees in the Mornington Peninsula.
