Urbanisation and insecticide use are just 2 of the many reasons researchers believe insect populations are declining at an alarming rate worldwide.
Most older people will agree that the sounds of insects around dawn and dusk have gotten a lot quieter and some insect sightings have become a rarity. This decline in insect populations is a serious problem for the earth, given the many important roles various insects play in the ecosystem. For example the decline in bee populations threatens honey production globally.
One way we can do our small part towards protecting insects is by having insect screens installed on our doors and windows to keep them out of our homes, instead of using harmful chemicals or killing them.
