National Geographic recently featured an article about the biggest insects that ever lived.
The largest insect fossils that were discovered were griffinflies and giant dragonflies, according to a paleobiologist at the University of California, Santa Cruz, Matthew Clapham.
The largest ever known insects were griffinflies, with wingspans of as much as 27 inches.
Their fossils were discovered in France and Kansas and estimated to be 300 million to 280 million years old.
