Insects: We Hate them, but this is why we need them

by Carl Jackson April 29, 2018

Sydney like every other part of Australia is swarming with insects at the moment as the hot, humid weather is a perfect breeding ground for these critters.  They ruin our barbeques and disrupt our sleep but according to an expert from Taronga Zoo, these pesky insects are actually doing wonderful work.

Even the most hated of insects, such as cockroaches have a role to play in the ecosystem. These hated insects actually provide fodder for other species up the foodchain.

Other useful insects include Christmas beetles who recycle nutrients in the soil and Cicadas, who are ripe pickings for birds.
